IF YOUR FAMILY SKIS TOGETHER
I’m just back from a week with my family skiing in Morgins, in the Valais canton of Switzerland. I can report it’s heaven no matter what your level of ability. Our group ranged from a gung-ho teenager to me…and we all had a great time. The village itself clusters around an old church, the ski lift starts right in town, the border with France is only a glide away.
Morgins is a little light on après-ski, it’s true, but dinner in a bistro or a glass of wine in the wine bar followed by an early night is not a bad formula for a real skier’s holiday.
There are enough trails winding through the 650 km Portes de Soleil ski area linking Switzerland and France to keep you occupied for days. Morgins offers 80km of marked snowshoe trails, too.
Our guide was Bret Marshall, a private ski instructor, who also has flats to rent in a pretty chalet. Contact him at www.morginssnowsports.com .
